Camera trap technology has improved incredibly in the last few years. We use these to track bears' movements up and down
the valleys and to monitor the cages so that we can arm them at the right times to catch the target bears. Many of the trails on which we
place camera traps are used by other animals such as Eurasian Lynx, Wolves and ungulates too, as you can see below. On our bear watching
trips we visit camera trap sites to check if there have been any new exposures and also position new camera traps. With bears having few or
no distinguishing features the traps must be used in conjunction with actual bear watching to get an accurate picture of population sizes
and movements.
